Rabbit Cages Specifications
We offer 2 different types of rabbit cages. Our rabbit cages are designed to have easy access for your rabbit and supplies - ideally the rabbit should be able to easily get in and out of the rabbit cage on his or her own. You should be always be able to get your rabbit out if necessary. Keep in mind that you'll want to be able to get a litter pan in and out of the cage as well, and easily be able to access food dishes and water bottles for maintenance.
Rabbit Cage Size Guidelines:
What size you will need for your rabbit?
We use a formula of 4 times the size of the rabbit (adult) for our guideline for determining what size is proper for your rabbit, and a square foot per pound calculation of the rabbit (for the smaller breeds). This is assuming your rabbit comes out for exercise on a regular daily basis. For a small to medium sized rabbit, a cage approximately 24" by 36" is adequate, and a slightly larger cage will be necessary for larger rabbit breeds.
Sanitation Considerations:
With rabbit caging this has historically meant a wire floor or slatted floor that urine and droppings can fall through to the tray below. Because of the irritability wire floor mesh can have on rabbits' feet, the minimal wire floor spacing should not have more than 1/2" x 1" and some other material such as wood, towel, several layers of newspaper solid to provide the bunny's feet a rest from the wire floor.
